August was a busy month with parties every weekend. I went to 4 birthday parties, 2 baby showers, 1 end-of-summer get-together, and I topped it off with a non-party sewing/babysitting session/wine-o bonfire staring with my good friend, Pam. (I didn’t make anything spectacular – just a much needed replacement cover for my ironing board.) So by the end of the month, I was burned out. September is proving to be busy, too!
Two weekends ago, I went to a baby shower where they had a cupcake contest. These were my entry and although I didn’t win, I thought they turned out pretty cute. My sister won the contest – they judged on taste, texture and decor. I guess I still have to find that perfect cupcake recipe! Mine are usually failures. So if you have any, I’d LOVE it if you’d share… pretty please?!? Hey, maybe I can do a blog post of all your cupcake recipes!
I made 6 dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla Swiss meringue Icing. I don’t like my icing too sweet and I like the texture and sheen of the icing. On top were fondant sculptures: baby bib, rattle, baby bottle, baby sleeping, a teddy bear and blocks.
My step daughter is having a bby shower in March. I would love to have cupcakes like these. We’re just in the planning stage because we’re not sure what it’s gonna be. I just love these cupcakes!!!!
